100 Men Who Give a Damn

Think of them as the Dragon's Den for charities - except someone always goes home with the money!

Once a quarter, 100 men (or thereabouts) get together.

3 pre-selected local charities deliver 5-minute pitches detailing why their organisations need funds for specific projects.

Members then cast a secret ballot to decide the winning pitch.

The winning charity receives a cheque for €100 from every person in the audience - approximately
€10,000.

Galway Centre for Independent were fortunate to be selected as one of the charities to pitch for these funds in O’Connells Bar on Thursday last and were chosen as winners.

Photos show Bernie Glynn and Ann Ryan receiving the cheque on behalf of Galway Centre for Independent Living. Also in photos are members of the steering committee of the 100 Men Organisation and their families.

Galway Centre for Independent Living provide affordable accessible transport for people with disabilities in Galway City and County. We do not receive any funding for vehicles and the ones we have at present need to be replaced.

There are over 600,000 people living with disabilities in Ireland and over half of them report that access to suitable transport severely limits their independence.

If we can raise the funds to purchase suitable vehicles we can make life a little bit easier for many Galway people. We will provide transport to hospital and doctor appointments, to school or university, to work or to attend social events. We also transport those who are too frail or not agile enough for public transport through illness or old age.

Every Euro donated will go directly towards the purchase of vehicles.
